Behold the power of the Dark Side of [Bacon]
PocketBacon in the media. Philosophy of real foods. Amen for bacon.
Whether you like it crispy or chewy, PocketBacon the application and the web site are out there bringing together the masses behind the meat that is neat, Bacon.
In the last week or so, we've been covered by the L.A. Times and the iPhoneSlutz podcast. How can you beat that?
Bacon continues its dominance of the meat group, by demonstrating that sometime actual enjoyment of food has to take second place to fascistic "health" posturing. And perhaps, as we're seeing more and more, good old honest foods with plain and ordinary fats, like bacon and lard and butter and such, maybe aren't as bad for you as we once were led to believe. Remember, these are the foods our bodies have adapted to eating, surviving and thriving as we clawed to the top of the food chain, eating everything that got in our way. We didn't come to rule the savanna fueled by Crisco, margarine, aspartame and trans-fats.
How dare we presume to make a "better" food than what nature made for us? It's not that nature made the food FOR us, it's that our bodies and stomachs perfected their digestion to work best on what was available. If anything, our only error was in consuming TOO MUCH of a great thing. Sugars, fats, all of these can make us obese and unhealthy in excess. But, have a slice of bacon in the morning before you go out and work hard all day. Don't be afraid to reward yourself with a cookie made with real sugar, or lard, or both. Just pursue a healthy lifestyle, and eat a balanced diet, and actually ENJOY eating food.
Should we sing a hymn now, and close with a bacon a-men? The Pastafarians have "ra-men", we need a prayer closing for the disciples of pork.
